Episode Description

Your host April encourages you to think outside of the box and to expand your awareness, thought process and perception. Domestic Violence just doesn't start and end with the involved spouse. Speaking from April's experience, her mother was a victim of domestic violence however it caused a ripple/domino effect to the rest of the household, hence the little girl at 9 years old (April) who faced emotional, mental, physical and even sexual abuse. The other domino effects that come into play are; generational role modeling with the youth, health concerns such as: depression, suicide, eating disorders, self-image, anxiety, loneliness, etc. Join the discussion in this segment with TED talk speaker Dr. Jackson Katz. He points out that violence and abuse are often called “women’s issues” however they are intrinsically men’s issues — and shows how these violent behaviors are tied to definitions of manhood. Take a stance and BREAK THE SILENCE & CYCLE of violence and abuse. April will be taking your questions live in the 2nd half of the episode. Got life challenges? Call 888-346-9141
