Born and raised in NYC, father was murdered when she was 15. she has worked on the soap opera "The Edge of Night" and appeared in infomercials, movies, plays and Mystery Dinner Theatre shows. and was a professional White Face Clown for over twenty years. Domestic Violence survivor. Aurea faced many struggles in her life and wrote a book about how to overcome them staying positive titled “I Won’t Survive, I’ll Thrive!” She lost her mother to cancer; later her brother was also treated for Cancer and a short time later Aurea was diagnosed with cancer herself, Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. After surgery and grueling chemotherapy, which almost killed her, the surgeon told her she'd never be able to speak above a faint whisper because they had to remove a major nerve to her vocal chord. Besides the vocal chord the surgeon removed half of her left lung, part of her right lung, the lining around her heart, her Thymus and disconnected half of her diaphragm. She is a cancer Sur-THRIVER since 2000. Her miracle story was featured on The 700 Club TV show worldwide. Aurea won Mrs. U.S. Beauty Of Georgia 2003 and the title of Most Inspirational contestant. She was a very accomplished Mary Kay Senior Pink Cadillac Sales director winning 7 free cars in her career and countless diamonds, prizes and more; leading hundreds of women to great successes each year. She has been a featured guest on over 2 dozen TV News shows nationwide and over 200 radio shows worldwide. She travels the country speaking her message of faith, hope, laughter and success. Six time TV award winning Aurea McGarry, is the creator, producer and host of “Live Your Legacy with Aurea McGarry” featuring the hero’s of non- profit organizations. And now she is launching a national event series called Live Your Legacy Summit. Teaching women and young girls how to LIVE THEIR BEST LEGACY now and Honoring living legends such as, Mama Jan Smith, vocal coach to the stars like Usher and Justin Beiber. She is an active member and judge for the Southeast EMMY Awards
