Merna Ann Hecht

Merna Ann Hecht, poet, nationally recognized storyteller, and arts educator has worked in many specialized settings including the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center School in Seattle, facilities for homeless and adjudicated youth, and at BRIDGES: A Center for Grieving Children. She presents courses to educators on teaching humanities and social justice through integrated arts, and is the recipient of the National Storytelling 1999 Community Service Award and the 2008 National Storytelling Network Brimstone Award for Applied Storytelling. Myrna directs the Stories of Arrival: Youth Voices Poetry Project at Foster High School in Tukwila, WA with immigrant and refugee students. Merna’s essays and poems have appeared in numerous journals and anthologies.
