Dr. Jack Travis

Dr. Jack Travis, M.D., M.P.H., became one of the leading figures in the wellness movement when he opened the world’s first wellness center, the Wellness Resource Center, in Mill Valley, California, in 1975. His televised interview with Dan Rather on 60 Minutes in 1979 made him a national figure and began his multiple appearances in the national media. He earned his B.A. from The College of Wooster and a medical degree from Tufts University in 1979. Dr. Travis went on to earn a Masters in Public Health degree at Johns Hopkins University in 1973. He is the author of The Wellness Workbook, The Wellness Inventory and contributed to the book Why Dads Leave, Insights & Resources for When Partners Become Parents, written by his life-partner, Meryn G. Callander.
