Former Westside Blacksox and So Cal Rush Head Coach Daylon Monette has returned to the dugout after a one year hiatus. Monette spent the last year at home with his family after leading the #1 nationally ranked 14U So Cal Rush to a successful summer season. Daylon Monette is a former 3 time MLB draft choice and All Big XII Conference selection as well as the Oklahoma St University Offensive Player of the Year. After 3 seasons of Minor League Baseball Daylon decided to retire from the game and develop the talents of young aspiring ballplayers. In 2005 he coached the Westside Blacksox to the AAU and USABF National Championships. The team went on to produce 6 MLB Draft products including current MLB stars Giancarlo Stanton and Tyler Skaggs. While owning and operating Diamond Elite Baseball Academy, LLC Monette also coached varsity baseball at Montclair Prep HS in Van Nuys, CA. During his time as an assistant coach he helped lead Montclair Prep to one quarterfinals appearance and one semi-finals appearance which equaled the furthest CIF playoff advancement in school history. In 2007 Daylon Monette coached a start-up travel team promptly named the So Cal Rush. The players were handpicked by him and his assistants and enjoyed success immediately. The team has ended their season ranked #1 in the nation in their age group in both 2010 and 2012 seasons. In 2012 the team enjoyed a prolific run at the USA Baseball Championships 16U division, taking 5th place but having 7 kids selected to the USA National Team and Developmental Team. From 2010- 2012 Monette has served as the Head Coach for the So Cal NTIS Team which has developed much of the talent for Team USA Baseball over the past 3 years. In 2013 Daylon will serve as an advisor to So Cal NTIS, and will serve in a mentorship role. Just recently Monette was hand selected by Marucci Bat Company to coach its sponsored team of 2016 graduates which operates under California Baseball Academy. CBA baseball is a College Development Baseball program unlike the normal travel ball organization. Daylon will be entrusted to continue to develop the top tier talent in the Southern California area by recruiting and developing the best prospects from Los Angeles County to San Diego County. A native of Chino Hills, CA Monette is married to his wife Karla and has one son, Kingston.
