Clinton Portis



This native of Laurel, Mississippi honed his skills at Gainesville High School and later became the second true freshman to start at running back since 1975 season at the University of Miami. Portis five 100-yard performances set a the school's freshman record with eight touchdowns and 838 yards on 143 carries. Portis capped off a sensational campaign at Miami with his best season in 2001 rushing for 1,200 yards and 10 touchdowns on 220 carries. He was selected by the Denver Broncos in the 2nd round of the 2002 draft where he earned two trips to the Pro Bowl in 2003 and 2008. He was later trade in the biggest trade at the time which brought Champ Bailey to Denver and sent him out east to Washington D.C. Portis now covers college football for the ACC Network
