Daniel McCoy


Daniel McCoy is Albany County's fourth County Executive, sworn in 1/1/12 after serving 12 years as a County Legislator. Dan lives in the capital city of Albany where he has worked as a public servant his entire professional career. He was a firefighter and EMT for the Albany County Airport and the City of Albany and is currently a member of the New York National Guard where he serves as a Sergeant 1st class. Dan was deployed to Iraq in 2005-2006 and aided in the disaster relief following Superstorm Sandy, Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee. As County Executive, he has focused on finding creative and innovative ways to improve the delivery of services while streamlining county government. Dan has spearheaded efforts to partner with Albany County's 19 municipalities to implement shared services and to discuss ways that all municipalities in the county can save taxpayers money by decreasing spending, avoiding duplication of services and reducing waste in local government.
