Jane High

Jane High was born and raised in Zimbabwe, grew up in Hwange National Park where her father worked. Jane is passionate about animals both domestic and wild, and horses in particular. During the time of the Rhodesian land invasions there was nowhere safe to keep horses, so she took them to South Africa. There she worked at Tala Game Reserve. With the support of the owner, she opened a Marula Environmental Education Centre focused on educating children, and with her horses created a leadership training programme for youth. Whilst in South Africa she also studied to become an Equestrian Wild Life Guide under the tutelage of Johan Fourie, author of, “The Nature Guide” the set book for all guide training in South Africa. In 2010 Jane finally returned to Zimbabwe with her horses to her home in Chimanimani, where she now lives. Jane runs Frog & Fern Cottages, a small tourism business, and founded Matsetso Stars Youth Club for disadvantaged youth.
