James Drinkwater


James advises on European green building law and policy for the network of over 30 national Green Building Councils and their 5,000 company members around Europe; coordinating their work with governments and major partners, as well as WorldGBC’s global advocacy work. A large part of his role is advising on and coordinating global and European political engagements in the green building arena, recently including UNEP’s 10 Year Framework Programme on Sustainable Consumption and Production, UNFCCC Technical Experts Meetings and the European Commission’s Resource Efficient Buildings project. He also co-leads WorldGBC’s flagship EU Horizon 2020 project ‘BUILD UPON’; a multi-stakeholder dialogue involving over 1,000 key stakeholders across 13 European countries on the framework for scaling-up deep energy efficient building renovation. He has a Masters from the University of Cambridge, and a background in corporate and finance law.
