Silvia Calisaya Chuquimia

Silvia Calisaya Chuquimia is a traditional Aymara healer descended from the pre-Inca people who inhabit the southern Lake Titicaca region of Peru. Silvia is also Curator of the Coca Leaf & Costumes Museum in Puno, Peru: www.museodelacoca.com . “My mother was my first university; she was and still is a healer and midwife . . . I started learning many things, as well as the coca reading. I tried to seek about the origin of the coca leaves, and why people are still using them. Doing this, I found the life philosophy of the Aymaras still living in this part of the world.”
