William Perry


William Perry was the former U.S. Secretary of Defense under President Bill Clinton. A successful engineer and businessman, Perry also served as Deputy Secretary of Defense, and Undersecretary of Defense for Research and Engineering. He is the founder of the William J. Perry Project, a non-profit devoted to ‘engage and educate the public of the dangers of nuclear weapons.’ Perry is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom, Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire, and the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun. An expert in U.S. foreign policy, national security, and arms control, Perry currently serves on the Defense Policy Board, the International Security Advisory Board, and the Secretary of Energy Advisory Board. He is the senior fellow at the Hoover Institution and the Freeman Spogli Institute of International Studies and serves as co-director of the Nuclear Risk Reduction Initiative and the Preventive Defense Project.
