Hannah Tarkinson
Hannah Tarkinson is the Portland, Maine-based founder and designer behind the brand, Ponomo.
Founded in 2001, Ponomo initially consisted of a line of one-of-a-kind, hand-tooled, leather handbags. After developing street credibility and responding to the demands of a loyal customer base, the line evolved to include fine jewelry, belts, and leather accessories. The unique nature of these collections continues to attract a client base as diverse as the materials used to create them.
What began in Tarkinson's small basement studio has expanded to include placement in museums, galleries, specialty boutiques throughout New England, a dedicated e-commerce site, and a busy studio in Portland, Maine’s thriving East Bayside.
Tarkinson is also a musician and fronts two Maine bands: isobell (rock) and Port of Est (electronic).
