Michele Vancour is a professor of public health and co-director of Faculty Development at Southern Connecticut State University. Her recent research highlights academic women’s struggles with breastfeeding once they return to their positions after the birth of their children. Her findings resulted in changes in several university lactation support programs, and led her to co-edit with Michele Griswold, Breastfeeding Best Practices in Higher Education (Praeclarus Press, 2014). Michele serves as Chair of the Connecticut Breastfeeding Coalition and is committed to building the future capacity of breastfeeding public health experts through her work in the state and mentorship of public health students. She received her PhD in Health Education from New York University.
