Steve Austin
Steve Austin is the Director of Governmental Affairs for the International Association of Arson Investigators. He has served in that capacity since 1985 where he represents the Association in Washington DC.
He is a 53-year veteran of the fire service. Steve is a Past President of the Delaware Volunteer Firemen’s Association. He is actively involved in many public policy issues impacting the delivery of emergency services including those involving the investigation of fires. He was named a 2007 Senior Fellow at the George Washington University Homeland Security Policy Institute.
He spent his working career with the State Farm Insurance Companies where he gained valuable knowledge about fire investigation practices and the relationship between public and private sector fire investigations in seeking the accurate origin and cause of fires.
