Morris Hayes
A
talented musician, producer and composer, Morris Hayes served the better part of
the last 20 years as musical director and keyboardist for Prince. He
first came to Prince's attention in 1991 when he and his bandmates were the
house band for the artist's Minneapolis club, Glam Slam.
Prince
asked the band to go on the Diamonds & Pearls Tour to back one of Paisley
Park's recording artist, Carmen Electra. During that tour, Prince was
so impressed with Morris that he ultimately asked him to join the New Power
Generation, and Morris would remain the keyboard player for the NPG for nearly
20 years and also went on to become its Musical Director.
Morris
appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in January with Minnesota
singer/songwriter Cobi who had tapped him to help MD the rehearsals in advance
of the television performance.
