Vicki Penwell
Vicki Penwell is an international humanitarian aid worker, licensed midwife
and CPM. Vicki is the founder and director of Mercy In Action, Inc., a
Philipines-based nonprofit organization dedicated to Safe Mothergood and
Newborn Survival through midwifery education and the establishment of free
birth clinics for impoverished women in developing countries. Her work at
the Mercy In Action birth center uses the International MotherBaby
Childbirth Initiative (IMBCI) model of maternity care. Prior to her work
with Mercy in Action, Vicki headed Via Vita Health Projects. Vicki, the
author of many midwifery publications and an experienced midwife educator,
holds graduate degrees in Intercultural Studies and Midwifery. For more, see
