Brian Walton
Brian Walton is a minister/pastor with the liberal Christian denomination known as the United Church of Canada. He possesses degrees in psychology, theology and counselling and is certified by the national spiritual care organization in Canada. Born and raised in a working class family his father died prematurely and he formed an anxious attachment to his mother. Developing hypochondria and a fear of dying he found comfort in a “God-power” even though his family were not actively involved in church. As a pastor he met many people in crisis which expanded his interest in working as a spiritual care provider in general hospitals. Working with the dying confronted his own fears and evolved his spiritual understanding significantly. Witnessing the peace and courage of those at their end of life stage he was more inclined to love, compassion and justice. He became an educator to students entering spiritual provider care work and then returned to church work prior to his retirement.
