Pia de Jong


Pia de Jong is a Dutch literary novelist and newspaper columnist who moved to Princeton, NJ in 2012. Pia de Jong has won many prizes for her short stories and poetry. From 2010 to 2012 she wrote a weekly column for the Sunday Magazine section of the Dutch Financial Times. Since her move to the United States, she has written more than 200 weekly Flessenpost columns on the back page of the NRC Handelsblad, an Amsterdam newspaper with 200,000 subscribers. She contributes regular op-ed pieces to the Outlook section of the Washington Post and blogs for the Huffington Post. She writes a monthly column called Parting Shot for the local newspaper, The Princeton Echo. In July 2017, W.W. Norton published Saving Charlotte: A Mother and the Power of Intuition, a memoir about the year when her daughter was born with a dangerous form of leukemia and survived against all odds.
