John Festival
John Festival graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a degree in Chemical Engineering. John started his oil patch career in the heavy oil fields of Lloydminster with Home Oil Company. He progressed through the ranks at Koch Exploration to the position of Senior Vice President. With some of the Koch Exploration team he founded BlackRock Ventures Inc., a TSE listed company, which returned over forty times the original investment in seven years and sold for $2.5 billion. He then helped found BlackCore Resources, a private company, which did a reverse take over of Pearl Exploration in 2009 to form BlackPearl Resources Inc. He is currently the President & CEO of BlackPearl and a member of the Board of Directors. John is also a Board Member of Toscana Energy Income Corp., a public oil and gas company based in Calgary; Compass Compression, a private manufacturer of gas compression related equipment and Broadview Energy Ltd., a private Oil & Gas company based in Calgary, Canada.
