Tom Greenwell

Tom Greenwell, great-grandson of Henry Nicholas Greenwell, was born in Kona and raised in Waimea at Kukaiau Ranch. He permanently returned to Kona over 35 years ago.
While growing up on the Big Island, Tom discovered his mechanical talent. He became known as the local mechanic and was sought out to repair and fix cars and bikes. After graduation, Greenwell left for the Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls, Oregon where he had plans to excel in diesel mechanics and become a diesel engineer. Tom returned home and took the job of mechanic for W.H. Greenwell Ranch in 1980.
Tom took the reins of Greenwell Farms in 1992 after the passing of his father. He credits long time coffee farmer Mr. Takashiba for guiding him through the processing of Kona coffee.Tom loves the challenge of introducing new concepts in the field that improve gourmet quality and productivity of Kona coffee. This is the most personally rewarding aspect of his farming career.
