Kanter was appointed President & CEO of Blue Nile in 2012 and named Chairman in. In February 2017 Blue Nile was sold to Bain Capital and Bow Street Capital, and Kanter transitioned exclusively into Chairman in June 2017.
Prior to Blue Nile, Kanter was President & CEO of Moosejaw.com a leading multichannel outdoor retailer. Before Moosejaw, Kanter served as Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Michaels Stores. Kanter served as President of Aaron Brothers, Art and Framing, and been integral at some of the nation's most storied retail businesses, including Eddie Bauer, Carter Hawley Hale and Sears.
Kanter is a Board Director of Potbelly, a Board Ambassador for The Fred Hutch Cancer Research Institute, and an advisory board member of Seattle University.
Kanter holds an MBA Marketing Organizational Behavior Babson College a B.S. in Marketing from Arizona State University.
