Margot Van Sluytman


Margot Van Sluytman is an award-winning expressive writing teacher, Sawbonna/Restorative Justice advocate, and public speaker. She uses therapeutic writing for healing and transformation through reclaiming, respecting, and living our precious voice. She's shared the stage with Dr. Gabor Mate and Sr. Helen Prejean. Her books include: Sawbonna: I See You, A Real Life Restorative Justice Story; The Other Inmate: Mediating Justice-Mediating Hope, Poetry and Workbook for Restorative Practices (English and French); Layers of Possibility: Healing Poetry from The Members of The National Association for Poetry Therapy; Dance With Your Healing: Tears Let Me Begin to Speak; and, Wild Self Real Self. She is the Founder of The Sawbonna Project for Living Justice, and a Member of The National Association for Poetry Therapy. Recently in a conversation in Cape Town, South Africa, Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu reminded Margot to do her walk her way, not his or anyone else’s.
