Dr. Alan Cooper, author of Subtracting Insult From Injury is a practicing Doctor of Chiropractic, Medical Hypnotherapist, and a Chronic Pain Specialist. His quest to Subtract Insult From Injury included a four-year stay in Kosovo where a tragic ethnic cleansing had just occurred. Developing tools on the fly as to how to assuage the PTSD of an entire nation, former wife, Sally, Dr. Cooper, and their eight children were swept into what the ten of them dubbed An Undertow Of Hearts. With nary a clue as to why they had been called or led into such an unusual unfolding, the Coopers found themselves recognizing and lauding the way a huge swath of the Kosovar people carried a transcendent aura that clearly had been forged through their ethnic anguish. Archbishop Desmond Tutu, and Secretary Of State Madeline Albright were amongst a host of luminaries who grew aware of the Coopers time in Kosovo, and wrote messages of appreciation for the humanitarian work the family carried out.
