Jim Johnson
Jim Johnson, founder and president of BikeTours.com, has had his share of careers, ranging from community arts director to marketing director, travel agent, magazine editor and publisher, and public relations director for a Fortune 100 company. When he lost that last job, everything came together for him—at age 50.
Jim’s passion for travel and travel planning began at an early age, and in the early 90s, he began bicycle touring in Europe to explore new countries and meet local people. In 2003, combining his passion for travel planning, bicycle touring, travel writing, and website strategy, he founded BikeTours.com, representing local European companies and offering their tours to his clients.
Since then his company has helped more than 23,000 clients plan overseas bicycle tours. Adventure Cyclist magazine describes Jim as “The Dream Maker” because he often says, “We’re not in the bike tour business, we’re in the business of helping our clients’ travel dreams come true.”
