Jan-Marcel Schubert
Jan-Marcel Schubert works as Conservation Cacao Leader at the conservation and chocolate company Original Beans. Based in Ecuador, he is in charge of project development in Latin America and cacao purchasing. Although just 27 years old, he already has 12 years experience in the chocolate and cacao world. In 2006, while still in high school, he founded his own artesanal chocolate company. Meeting the founder of Original Beans in 2008 opened the doors to the cacao world in South America. After 18 month of internships and travels around South America in 2010/11 Jan-Marcel began studying food technology in Germany. While studying from 2012 to 2015, he frequently returned to South America to search for new origins of native cacao with high social and environmental impact, as well as to manage existing Original Beans projects. He joined Original Beans full-time in 2015.
