Elise Snyder M.D.


Dr. Elise Snyder graduated from the Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons in 1958. She is a Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine, a Visiting Professor at the University of Sichuan and a consultant to the Ethics Committee of the Chinese Psychological Society.
She is founder and President of the China American Psychoanalytic Alliance (CAPA)) and Past President of the American College of Psychoanalysts.
In 2012 she received the American Society of Psychoanalytic Physicians: Sigmund Freud Award and also the 2012 American Academy of Psychoanalysis and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Presidential Award.
Dr. Snyder has 5 grandchildren. And more than 400 Chinese mental health professionals who also call her, “Grandma.”
