Joe Parker, President
We have lots of challenges ahead on behalf of all blinded veterans and I am confident we will meet them head on.” “Joe has dedicated himself to blinded veterans in particular in the hope that my blindness will not be in vain—that he can prevent others from suffering the pitfalls that I have suffered and help them retain or regain their independence.” A native of Transylvania County, North Carolina, and a current resident of the city of Pisgah Forest, Parker was first elected in 2017 as National President of BVA. In 2010, he was elected as Director of District 3 and three years later was elected as BVA’s National Secretary in 2013. Joe became legally blind in 1998 as a result of an acute exposure to Agent Orange as a U. S. Navy Construction Electrician in the northern regions of South Vietnam decades earlier. He served two combat tours in Vietnam during the 1960s.
