Robert Muir-Wood

Robert Muir-Wood, MA Ph.D., is an expert in disaster risk and is the Chief Research Officer, at Risk Management Solutions. Robert has worked on the development of catastrophe loss models of earthquake, tropical cyclone, windstorm and flood perils. He's been the lead on a number of Catastrophe risk securitizations and was Lead Author on the 2007 4th IPCC Assessment Report and the 2011 IPCC ‘Special Report on Managing the Risk of Extremes’. He's Chair of the OECD High Level Advisory Board of the International Network on Financial Management of Large Catastrophes and was on the advisory board of the 2014 Risky Business US Climate Change economic costs study. He's published 7 books, written numerous papers and published more than 200 articles and blogs. His latest book ‘The Cure for Catastrophe: How we can stop manufacturing natural disasters’ was published in the US and UK in 2016. He is a Visiting Professor at the Institute for Risk and Disaster Reduction at University College London.
