Natalie Shenker

Dr Natalie Shenker initially trained as a surgeon specializing in pediatrics. She qualified as a doctor (Oxford) and earned her PhD from Imperial College (Hammersmith campus), where her research focused on epigenetics and breast cancer risk. Dr Shenker is co-founder of the Human Milk Foundation, which aims to ensure more babies are fed with human milk, and she is the director of the Hearts Milk Bank (co-founded with Gillian Weaver). Through her work at Hearts Milk Bank, she works to support a wide range of ethically-funded research into the optimal use of milk banking, as well as the effects of breastfeeding on mothers’ and babies’ health.
