John E. Dowling, PhD

John E. Dowling, PhD is a Gordon and Llura Gund Research Professor of Neurosciences in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at Harvard University. Dowling was chairman of the Biology Department at Harvard from 1975 to 1978 and served as Associate Dean of the faculty of Arts and Sciences from 1980 to 1984. He was Master of Leverett House at Harvard from 1981-1998 and currently serves as president of the Corporation of The Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, a member of the National Academy of Sciences and a member of the American Philosophical Society. Dowling has received numerous awards for his research and has been featured in dozens of medical publications.
