Julia Lurie is a Mother Jones reporter in San Francisco who covers public health, with a focus on the opioid epidemic. She has tailed cops on drug busts in Baltimore, shadowed needle exchange workers in San Francisco, and interviewed foster kids in rural Ohio. Most recently, she spent nine months investigating America’s failing—and sometimes deadly—rehab system.
