Cordelia Odendaal
Cordelia Odendaal was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. She studied languages, history of art and librarianship at the University of Pretoria. In addition, she studied the piano, harmony, counterpoint, theory and history of music with private tutors and later enrolled at the Conservatory of Music. Her love of music comes from very young and piano lessons started at age five. Music and the impact of its beauty were cultivated by her parents. Ultimately she established and managed a record library at the University of South Africa, with close ties to the Department of Music. Later she taught piano. Eventually this progressed to presenting short courses on Musical Appreciation to adults, and this is still ongoing. She also presents public lectures by invitation. The book was conceived seven years ago and was recently completed. For her it fulfills a lifetime of passion for classical music and the contribution it can make to the spiritual growth of people.
