Charlene Harrington

Dr. Charlene Harrington, Professor Emeritus of Sociology and Nursing in the Department of Sociology and Nursing at UCSF. She has been elected to the American Academy of Nursing and the Institute of Medicine (now the Academies of Medicine) She has 302 publications credited to her name, both as author and coauthored. As a member of the Institute of Medicine, her 1986 study - “Improving the Quality of Care in America’s Nursing Homes” gave rise to the 1987 Nursing Home Reform Law. She lectures both nationally and internationally on the long-term care challenges.
