Ms. Carla Howell

Long-time libertarian activist and singer-songwriter, Carla Howell heads the Center for Small Government. She led three initiatives in Massachusetts to repeal the state income tax and cut the sales tax. Ms. Howell has composed and recorded many songs, including some about Libertarian issues, such as Yack Yack Bourbon, Good Folks, and First Do No Harm. She served as Political Director for the Libertarian National Committee and was a Libertarian candidate in 2000 for US Senate, getting 12 percent of the vote against Senator Ted Kennedy. She was also a candidate for Massachusetts governor and for state auditor, where she received the endorsement of the Boston Herald.
