Angela Peacock

Angela Peacock served in the US Army for almost seven years and was medically retired after one tour in Iraq. She was subsequently diagnosed/ medicated for PTSD and became a victim of polypharmacy. It took her many years to taper off a cocktail of medications and has been off all medications since 2016. Despite suffering from protracted damage from psychiatric drugs, she recently completed her master’s in social work from Washington University in St. Louis. She speaks nationally about veteran issues and was a Veterans of Foreign Wars- Student Veterans of America, Legislative Policy Fellow in 2019, where she advocated for safer prescribing practices and informed consent at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Angela is one of five subjects in the film, “Medicating Normal,” that explores the assumptions underlying the current mental health care system and travels the country screening the film and talking about these important issues.
