Bettye Kearse
Bettye Kearse, a descendant of a slave and President James Madison, is a writer and retired Boston-based pediatrician with a B.A. from the Univ. of California, Ph.D. from New York Univ., and M.D. from Case Western Reserve Univ. Among her most rewarding experiences as a physician were her travels to China on behalf of an international adoption agency and service on the board of directors of a community organization for grandparents and the grandchildren they are raising.
