Scott Smith is a named inventor on 6 issued patents and 14 patent-pending applications relating to BioFoam for testing/remediation of water contaminated from algae, oil, and chemicals. In 2008, Smith received the Small Business Administration Phoenix Award for Disaster Recovery after his business was destroyed by oil contaminated flood waters. This devastating event became the impetus for his inventions using BioFoam to clean up water and decontaminate surfaces. Smith has been to every major water contamination event since 2010 – more than 60 in the US and abroad. These real-world disasters have been his laboratory. Smith’s daughter, a frontline worker, was infected with COVID-19, making it personal for Smith. He found that rags and paper towels deactivate disinfectant leaving live pathogens on surfaces in violation of FIFRA. Smith holds degrees from Baylor University and Harvard Business School (MBA).
