Mary-Louise Albert

Mary-Louise Albert's focus was to be a dancer, she did it, becoming an award winning national and international solo dance artist. Apprenticing with Les Grands Ballet Canadiens, she danced with such companies as Judith Marcuse, Anna Wyman, and Karen Jamieson. Her teaching includes Arts Umbrella, Simon Fraser University, Harbour Dance Centre, and as a dance adjudicator throughout Western Canada. At age 45, through the Dancer's Transition Centre, she graduated in Business, Arts Admin and Management. In 2011 she won the Canada Council-John Hobday Award for Excellence in Arts Management. Recently retired as Artistic Managing Director of the acclaimed Chutzpah Festival. She is a past member of the Vancouver Arts and Culture Policy Council After a 19 year absence she has returned to the stage in 2021. She lives in Sointula, BC with her partner Michael and is the Mother of 2 amazing grown-up children. She has been best friends with Gord Riddell for 50 years!
