Mary-Louise Albert

Mary-Louise Albert's sole focus was to be a dancer, she did it becoming an award-winning national and international solo dance artist. Apprenticing with Les Grands Ballet Canadiens, she danced with such companies as Judith Marcuse, Anna Wyman, and Karen Jamieson. Performing works by choreographers such as Mark Morris, Lar Lubovitch, Serge Bennathan, Judith Marcuse, Grant Strate, and Christopher House to name a few. Her teaching includes Arts Umbrella, Simon Fraser University, Harbour Dance Centre, and as a dance adjudicator throughout Western Canada. At age 45, through the Dancer Transition Centre she graduated in Business, Arts Admin and Management. In 2011 she won the Canada Council-John Hobday Award for Excellence in Arts Management. Recently retired as Producer of the acclaimed Chutzpah Festival. She sits on Vancouver’s Arts and Culture Policy Council and the Program Advisory Committee for the BCIT School of Business. After a 19-year absence she returns to the stage in 2021.
