Joe Solmonese

Joe Solmonese has spent a career in cause-based advocacy and leadership. As Chief Executive Officer of the 2020 Democratic National Convention, he was responsible for the leadership of that project and the great pivot that led to the first virtual national political convention. Before that, he was a Managing Director and co-Founder of Gavin/Solmonese, a national corporate restructuring, turnaround, and public affairs advisory firm rooted in progressive values. He was President of the Human Rights Campaign, where he oversaw that group's successful legislative efforts to repeal the U.S. military's discriminatory Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy and get the Matthew Shepard & James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act passed into law. Before that, he spent thirteen years at EMILY's List where we worked to get progressive woman candidates elected to high office. Joe is Senior Vice President for Government Relations & Communications for Montefiore Healthcare System.
