Steven Hassan
Mental health professional, cult and undue influence expert Steven Hassan, PhD (pronounced /h??s?n/) has been working in the field of religious and political cults for more than 40 years. His expertise includes undue influence in cases of destructive one-on-one relationships, families, parental alienation, mini-cults, religious cults, therapy and self-improvement groups, professional abuse, institutional abuse, human trafficking, and hate and violent extremism. He writes and speaks out about the importance of viewing terrorist groups as destructive cults. Dr Hassan is uniquely qualified to speak on these subjects because at the age of 19 he was recruited into the Unification Church of Sun Myung Moon. After 2 years, his family successfully deprogrammed him from the cult. As a result, Dr. Hassan has spent the last 42 years working as a mental health counselor to help save others caught by the undue influence of a cult.
