Katherine McNamara

Katherine McNamara is a survivor of the so-called Troubled Teen Industry. She spent over 2.5 years in two programs as a teenager. She is the Investigative Coordinator for Breaking Code Silence. Katherine has been a vocal advocate speaking out against the so-called Troubled Teen Industry and advocating for evidence-based community treatment.  In her years of advocacy, she's conducted multiple investigations into running and shut down programs, worked with law enforcement on active investigations, and compiled decades of program records for public viewing. Most recently, she was featured in Paris Hilton's documentary, entitled "This Is Paris." She currently serves as an interim coordinator for Breaking Code Silence, a non-profit aimed at protecting and advocating for youth in residential facilities. Katherine is also a Cybersecurity Technical Solutions Architect and has worked in the field of information security with large enterprise and public sector customers. Katherine has worked with technology since 2007 in multiple networking and security roles. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in IT Security and a Master of Science in Information Security and Assurance. Her many certifications include CCIE Data Center, CCIE Security, MCSE, VCP, CISSP, CCNP, CCDP, and more. She is a published author, speaker, and community leader for both her industry and advocacy groups.
