Joy Traxler

Joy Traxler is a grief guide and educator, artist, writer, ceremonialist, modern mystic, wife, mother and way-shower. Joy has experienced more loss than most with the sudden and tragic death of her child, her husband died from a heart attack and then she lost her wits and her career as an architect. She has traveled the globe studying how other cultures handle death and worked with monks, indigenous elders, healers and medicine men. She visited temples, ashrams and sacred sites around the world only to realize she was the object of her own search. Tears of Joy is her book in progress. Joy uses yoga, guided meditation and visualization, somatic movement and dance, music and sound as medicine and the expressive arts as alternative therapeutic processes for individuals, families, groups and retreats. Joy Traxler has degrees in architecture and psychology from Washington University and a certification in grief, loss and trauma from Southwestern College. www.tearsofjoy.life
