James Younan

James Younan

James Younan was born into a politically resented Christian family on July 2nd 1964 in Baghdad, Iraq. He was subsequently forced and threatened by authorities, after which he and his family departed the country as political refugees. He eventually fled to Italy with his mother, three brothers and two sisters. This exodus was due in part to their Christian faith denying any credible right to proper education. Without the right to work in Italy, he applied on behalf of his family for asylum in many countries including Australia, Sweden and Canada. Having been turned down many times however his plea at the United States Embassy was finally granted. The program follows his challenges and immersion into Western Society.
