Dr. Rachel A. Winston is the President and CEO of Lizard Publishing, after retiring from 35 years as a certified college counselor. Over her career, she was the Academic Senate President, Full-time Faculty Member of the Year, elected statewide leader, and winner of the McFarland Literary Achievement Award. Dr. Winston writes and publishes on educational and international issues. She taught at UCLA, Chapman, Embry Riddle, Cal State Fullerton. She holds graduate degrees from Harvard, UChicago, UT Austin, GWU, Claremont Graduate Univ., Pepperdine, and Cal State Fullerton. Inspired by trips with U.N. officials in the 1960s to the Golan Heights, Crimea, Caucuses, and Ukraine during the Cold War, and East Germany when still behind the Iron Curtain, Dr. Winston later worked on Capitol Hill and with the White House. As a mathematician, cryptanalyst, chemist, and computer scientist, her life led her to 50+ countries. She attended graduate school in Hong Kong, presented at events in China, and conducted research in Southeast Asia. Dr. Winston's research and speaking engagements, along with working on her eighth master's degree, have led her to live in a hotel for twenty years. In 2021, she has published six books while hunkered down and quarantined in hotels. Dr. Winston is masterful at getting free rooms and maximizing points and will share tips.
