Dr. Shanda McManus

Dr. Shanda McManus is a board certified family practice with over twenty years of experience in caring for families. She is currently practicing in Middletown, NJ where she provides care for patients throughout their lifespan. Dr. McManus believes in a holistic family centered approach to health. She has been working on the frontlines during the current pandemic. Prior to her current position, Dr. McManus practiced as a house call physician where she focused on care of the home bound patient and their families. Dr. McManus is also an accomplished writer. Her writing has appeared most recently in Bellevue Literary Journal, Intima Journal of Narrative Medicine, and other literary journals. She focuses on the intersection of race and medicine in her work. Dr. McManus is thrilled to be a PEN American Emerging Voices Fellow this year. Dr. McManus is from Philadelphia where she obtained her undergraduate degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania. She studied medicine at Sydney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. Dr. McManus completed a residency in Family Medicine at Christiana Care hospital in Newark, Delaware. She is an active member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. She is a passionate proponent of Lifestyle Medicine, which promotes health by encouraging patients to follow a healthy diet, exercise, and manage stress. Dr. McManus is also a wife and proud mother of five children.
