Kyle Helmberger

Kyle Helmberger is a “go-getting” outdoor innovator living his dream in the American Wilderness and represents the new generation of self sufficiency advocate, pursuing a simpler and more meaningful life. At the age of twelve, he was influenced by a documentary about legendary outdoorsman & craftsman, Dick Proenneke who built a log cabin in the Alaskan wilderness, living in solitude for thirty years. Inspired by this remarkable story of fortitude and a willingness to adapt to nature, he began building a series of log cabins in his early twenties in remote areas of Alaska and Minnesota with only basic hand tools, based on a strict budget, drawn from personal savings. He currently lives full time in a framed stick-built cabin which he built by hand, on a 10 acre homestead in northern Minnesota. By abandoning his former city life in favour of an off-grid lifestyle, he hopes to inspire others to head outdoors and lead a more fulfilling life based on the principles of frugality and self-reliance. His adventurous spirit is grounded in a belief that he is working towards something better and this evolving journey can be followed on his YouTube channel, KYLES CABIN.
