Omar Elbaroudi

Omar is a 12th grade student in the American International School of Johannesburg. He moved to South Africa when he was 8 and lived in South Africa for 10 years consecutively. During his time at AISJ, he developed a keen interest in environmental studies that grew as he joined services that include gardening club, reforestation, and now, Ecobricks; A service partnered with the environmental branch of the Roots & Shoots organization. In his free time, Omar enjoys designing clothes, writing blogs, and coming up with business ideas for his creative endeavors. Omar was specifically drawn to the idea of social entrepreneurship, which combined his creative entrepreneurial spirits with his love for environmental studies. What Omar is most excited about in the Eco Bricks service is the idea of creating a product that not only recycles non-biodegradable items, but also one that constructively works as a viable, durable and practical alternative for other traditional building material. With Ecobricks, Omar is looking forward to fusing his passions together to be able to effectively contribute to restoring our environment moving forward.
