Junhyeok Yang
Junhyeok is a 12th grader at the American International School of Johannesburg (AISJ). Born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, he moved to South Africa after 9th grade to continue pursuing his engineering skills. He aims to become an automotive engineer and has a strong passion for preserving the environment. In the almost three years of living in South Africa, Junhyeok has found ways to engage in his school and local communities to raise awareness and take action on environmental issues. Adding to those efforts, he presented at the NYLC National Service-Learning Conference to showcase what he has done - particularly the Eco Bricks service project. In his extracurricular life, he loves to design cars using 3D modeling software, solve mathematics, work on scientific challenges, and playing football and rugby. He was recruited to play rugby in the International Schools of Southern and Eastern Africa event with the AISJ Rugby Boys team in 2020.
