Dave Stevens, “The Only Legless Athlete to Play for NCAA, CFB, and MILB in Sports History,” Shares his Resilience Over Being Born Without Legs Dave Stevens, Emmy-winning broadcaster, motivational speaker, and athlete, shares his story of being born as a bi-lateral amputee (born legless) and given up for adoption. A loving family adopted Dave Stevens in Phoenix, Az, and encouraged his pursuits of regular sports. He played football, baseball, and wrestling. He was so valuable that he set three Arizona state high school records. These records were: most wrestling takedowns, most career baseball walks (132), and the season record for walks (44). Due to his dedication to excel, his alma mater renamed their Most Valuable Player award the "Dave Stevens Hustle Award." Winning awards seems to be in alignment with Stevens' winning attitude. Stevens has proudly showcased the seven (7) National Sports Emmys awarded him during his ESPN broadcasting career. He covered fourteen (14) Super Bowls, three (3) World Series, three (3) NCAA Final Fours, and various other historic sporting events.
